Help make the world a safer place

by Lori Hoeck on January 18, 2010

And now for something completely different.

(At least for me.)MontyPythonMovingOn

This post is a little different than most. I’m asking for your help to give others the gift of self defense.

Many of my readers have already downloaded my free ebook on self defense, Think Like a Black Belt, Take Charge of Your Own Safety and are receiving the companion newsletter.  Thank you!

Now I’d like to spread the word. The more of us that have the skills outlined in my book, the safer we’ll all be.

Here’s the plan:

1) LETTER

I’m sending this letter out to university and college safety departments for their college students to access the self defense ebook for free, too. Please pass it on to security departments you know or to local groups (Girl Scouts, Realtor groups, emergency services people) who could benefit as well.

Dear _________________

As a senior instructor in the martial arts, third degree black belt, and former volunteer firefighter and EMT, I’ve compiled the most powerful and practical information I give in a self defense seminar for the public and put them in a free, down-loadable ebook. ”Think Like A Black Belt, Take Charge of Your Own Safety” helps non-martial artists discover 15 Personal Safety Tips that are easily learned and applied. A bonus section reveals how anyone can increase awareness skills and vigilance.

In the free ebook, and at my website (ThinkLikeABlackBelt.com), the phrase to think like a black belt means thinking ahead, wearing a wary eye, and presenting yourself to the world in a way that makes you less visible and less desirable to the criminals and predators.

I realize not everyone has the time to take a self defense class, but they still need actionable information at their fingertips. This is my answer to that need.

As one of my readers recently wrote: ” ‘Think Like A Black Belt’: hands down, the best, most comprehensive and easy to digest book about self-defence awareness I’ve seen. Thank you very much. I will be passing on (read: attempting to pass on) this ebook to my rather stubborn 18 y.o daughter, who is just needing to be in Code Yellow around about now.” ~ Geoff, Australia

Hope this can help you!

2) LINKS

I’m also asking you to promote this website’s links and the free self defense ebook links to other online sites. If you Tweet, use Facebook, or enjoy forums, please let people know about the practical information I offer at the website (http://think likeablackbelt.com) and in the ebook (http://thinklikeablackbelt.com/book-think-like-a-black-belt).

The more links “out there” on the web that direct people back here, the more the word will spread both directly and indirectly.

Who knows how many people you might help?

THANK YOU!

Done! I’ll see if I can get permission to post this in my apartment building, for starters. And that’s only the beginning. You’re on a role Lori. I like it! :-)

Hi! Just found your blog a week ago. Thank you for reminding me about my New Years resolution – take a self defense class. Just wrote an entry challenging my readers to do the same and provided a link to your e-book.
